Ans. When the children waved to the Green Dragon, out of a first class carriage a hand waved back. It was the old gentleman's hand.

1. What names did the children give to the different trains?
Ans. The names which children had given to the different trains were 9:15 up 'the Green Dragon', 10:7 Down 'the Worm of wantley' and the 'Midnight town express.
2. Describe the old gentleman.
Ans. The old gentleman was a very nice-looking. He had a fresh-coloured, clean-shaven face and white hair.
3. Why did the children wave to the old gentleman everyday?
Ans. The old gentleman was a very kind and humble person, he wave his hand to the children everyday to make them happy as a kind gesture therefore in return the children also wave to the old gentleman everyday.
4. How did the children seek to the old gentleman's help?
Ans. The children made a plan to seek to the old gentleman help. Firstly Peter showed a message "LOOK OUT AT THE STATION" written on a large white sheet nailed against the fence to the old gentleman. At the station phyllis meet the old gentleman and damp a letter into his hand. In this letter all the problems are mentioned by the children and in this way they seeked the help from him.
5. What was written in the letter that phyllis gave to the old gentleman?
Ans. In the letter it was written that, Dear Mr we-do-not-know-your-name, our mother is ill and the doctor says to give her the things at the end of the letter, but she says she can't afford it. We do not know anybody here but you because father is away and we do not know his address. Father will pay you. We promise it on our honour. Will you give the parcel to the station master because we don't know what train you come down by? Say it is for Peter that was sorry about the coals and he will know all right.

6. What did the old gentleman tell the children in his letter?
Ans. Dear Roberta and Phyllis and Peter,
Here are the things you want. Your mother will want to know where they came from. Tell her they were sent by a friend who heard she was ill. When she is well again you must tell her all about it, of course. And if she says you ought not to have asked for the things, tell her that I say you were quite right and that I hope she will forgive me for taking the liberty of allowing myself a very great pleasure.
